WALK..JOG..RUN..
Beginner's/Returner's:-
If you've never run before, or not for a long time, this course is just for you. It is designed for those of you who would like to run, for fun and fitness. No experience is necessary, just a sense of humour, and a willingness to have a go! We don’t put any pressure on anybody and never judge anyone by their level of fitness. If we can get a few more men and women running than walking then the course will have been a success! At the end of the course you will be slowly integrated into our Improvers sessions.
We ask new members to use the time before our course starts as an opportunity to improve on your fitness levels, this will help to get your body and mind ready for running regularly. Please make sure that you can comfortably walk at a brisk pace for 60 minutes three times a week before starting to incorporate some running into your sessions. This course is designed for those of you who can run for a minimum of 5 minutes continually before requiring a walk break, at least twice a week at the outset. We will then ease you into a walk/run programme designed to increase your mileage and reduce the amount of walking required. At the end of the course you will be slowly integrated into our regular Improvers sessions on the same nights.
Don't rush out and buy any special running gear before the course starts, just wear any pair of trainers and some loose, comfortable clothing and a good supportive bra. Your leader will give you plenty of advice about running trainers and other items in the first few weeks.
If you don't feel quite ready to join straight away then we do run courses throughout the year. If in doubt or if you are significantly overweight, please check with your doctor first.
Improver's:-
To join our Improvers’ courses you will need to have a base level of fitness – enough to be able to run for 2-3 miles without requiring a walk break. At the end of the 6-8 weeks we will have you running for 4.5 – 5 miles. At the end of the course you will be slowly integrated into our regular sessions on the same nights.
For our courses consistency is key, so we encourage you to come every week, come rain or shine! If you can't come on your usual day for some reason, you are welcome to come to another session to make up for it.
Membership:-
5 week Beginner's/Returner's and Improvers courses cost £35. Included in the course cost are 5 session fees and your annual unaffiliated membership fee. Once you have used up the session fees (included in course cost), you will just pay a £3 session fee everytime you come along.
All members receive a club technical t-shirt or vest, advice and tuition from our qualified leaders, a club membership card which entitles you to discounts at local specialist sports retailers, member benefits we have negotiated with local suppliers and liability Insurance.
